OWINGS MILLS, Md. \u2013 World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler will have a new caddie at this week’s BMW Championship, the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs.<\/p>\n
Ted Scott, Scheffler’s regular caddie, had to be absent before the final round of last week’s FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis due to a family emergency in Louisiana.<\/p>\n
The PGA Tour confirmed on Tuesday that Scott will not be working this week, and Michael Cromie will be the one carrying Scheffler’s bag.<\/p>\n
Cromie works for Chris Kirk, who finished 51st in points after last week’s tournament. The top 50 golfers in FedEx Cup points advanced to the BMW Championship.<\/p>\n
After Scott had to go home last week, Scheffler’s friend, Brad Payne, worked in the final round. Scheffler signed a card of 67 strokes under par in the final round and tied for third place with 15 under par, one stroke away from a tiebreaker.<\/p>\n
Payne is president of the College Golf Fellowship and previously carried Scheffler’s bag in the third round of the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla, when Scott was attending his daughter’s graduation.<\/p>\n
Scott was in the bag for each of Scheffler’s 17 PGA Tour victories, which include four major championships.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
