Despite this, the team expects him to be fully recovered for the season opener.\n\nLove, who had already been with his left thumb bandaged during Monday&#8217;s practice, tried to play despite the injury before deciding to undergo surgery.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The best option for him to return as quickly as possible and feel his best.<\/p><cite>Brian Gutekunst, Packers General Manager<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nPackers general manager Brian Gutekunst reported on Tuesday that Love could return to training as early as next week, adding that the procedure was &#8220;the best option for him to return as quickly as possible and feel his best.&#8221;\n\nGutekunst explained that Love suffered the injury during the first preseason game against the New York Jets on Saturday.\n\nLove participated in two series in that game.
