Houston Texans tight end Brevin Jordan suffered a lower leg injury during a practice on Monday. The player had to be carted off the field after initially trying to walk on his own.<\/p>\n
The injury occurred during an 11-on-11 play, when quarterback C.J. Stroud threw a pass to Jordan in the end zone. The tight end jumped, but failed to catch the ball.<\/p>\n
Upon falling, Jordan immediately collapsed to the ground, clutching his right leg. Although he initially got up with the help of the trainers, he didn’t want to walk with them, insisting that he was fine. After a few moments of being unable to put weight on his leg, he became visibly emotional as the medical cart arrived.<\/p>\n
The Texans players and coaches gathered around Jordan, who appeared inconsolable and was crying while in the cart.<\/p>\n
After Jordan was retired, the players gathered in a circle and spoke to each other before resuming practice.<\/p>\n
Jordan was coming off a season in which he tore his ACL in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears in 2024. He finished that game not knowing he had the injury.<\/p>\n
The player, selected in the fifth round of the 2021 draft, accumulated 532 receiving yards and five touchdowns before the injury. Despite the injury, the Texans rewarded Jordan with a one-year contract extension for $2.1 million, with $850,000 guaranteed, as he was projected to be a free agent in 2025.<\/p>\n
Jordan was competing for a starting position with the Texans or, at least, for significant playing time. The other tight ends on the roster are Dalton Schultz, Cade Stover, Dalton Keene, and Luke Lachey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
