TAMPA, FL. – Tennessee Titans’ young quarterback Cameron Ward had his first preseason appearance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, showing flashes of his potential in his debut.<\/p>\n
Ward, this year’s first draft pick, completed five of his eight pass attempts, accumulating 67 yards in two offensive series. The Titans’ first series ended in three-and-out, but in the second, he led an 11-play, 65-yard drive that culminated in a one-yard touchdown run by Tony Pollard.<\/p>\n
Titans receiver Calvin Ridley was key on offense, catching three passes for 50 yards during that drive. Despite a pass interference penalty that put the Titans in a first-and-20 situation, the offense reacted positively with passes from Ward to Ridley for gains of 10 and 13 yards.<\/p>\n
The first connection from Ward was a pass to Ridley in the middle of the field for 27 yards, demonstrating Ward’s ability to wait for his receivers to get open, with the offensive line giving him enough time.<\/p>\n
