Despite this situation, McKinney assures he is ready for the start of the regular season.\n\nMcKinney, who was selected as an All-Pro in the first team last season, did not participate in Thursday&#8217;s practice after practicing on Wednesday.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cObviously, I\u2019m glad we caught it when we did, so I\u2019m just trying to take it easy and then gradually ramp it up,\u201d McKinney stated after Thursday\u2019s practice. \u201cBut I\u2019ll be ready when the time comes, for sure.\u201d<\/p><cite>Xavier McKinney<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe player emphasized that he will be available for the regular season opener against the Detroit Lions on September 7th.\n\nThis injury adds to that of another high school starter, cornerback Nate Hobbs, who underwent knee surgery last week, but also expects to be ready for Week 1.\n\nMcKinney, who signed a four-year, $67 million contract as a free agent in 2024, was second in the NFL last season with eight interceptions and quickly became a leader of the Packers&#8217; improved defense.\n\n\n<p>Two other starters who did not practice on Thursday were wide receiver Jayden Reed (foot) and center Elgton Jenkins (back).
