The team&#8217;s statement, which consisted of only two sentences, indicated that Nahas&#8217; contract had been &#8220;terminated&#8221;.\n\nThe statement continued:\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;The North Carolina Courage remains focused on the continuous development of the team and on maintaining a professional and competitive environment for the players, staff, and fans.&#8221;<\/p><cite>North Carolina Courage<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a2.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F0807%2Fr1528700_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\nSean Nahas was fired by the North Carolina Courage on Wednesday.\n\nNahas took over as interim coach in the fall of 2021 after the firing of Paul Riley, who allegedly sexually coerced former players and was ultimately banned for life from the NWSL.\n\nNahas became the full-time head coach of the Courage before the 2022 NWSL season and led the team to win two NWSL Challenge Cup titles and to participate in the playoffs in each of the last two years.\n\nCurrently, the Courage has a record of 5-4-5 (W-D-L) with 19 points and is in ninth place in the table, below the playoff line.\n\nNahas has deep and lasting ties to the Raleigh, North Carolina area, and was also heavily involved in the Courage academy.\n\nHis brother, Damon Nahas, is the head coach of the University of North Carolina women&#8217;s soccer team, which won an NCAA Division I title last year in Damon&#8217;s first year at the helm.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The North Carolina Courage announced this Wednesday the dismissal of their head coach, Sean Nahas.
