Interview and analysis.

Amorim Seeks Manchester United Resurrection

The Portuguese coach, Rúben Amorim, is charting the course for Manchester United’s recovery. Currently, from the club’s summer training base at the Chicago Fire facilities, Amorim is working on rebuilding the team after a disappointing season.

Last season, United finished in fifteenth position in the Premier League, their worst performance in more than half a century. In response to this situation, Amorim has reinforced the attack with the incorporations of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, with an investment of 128.5 million pounds.

In an interview, Amorim addressed the initial challenges of his management, the doubts he experienced at certain moments of the previous season, and the pressure of managing United. In addition, he shared his future plans and his conviction in the return of success.

The strategist also spoke about his relationship with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, minority owner of the club, and his focus on improving the internal culture, including the decision to remove Alejandro Garnacho from the pre-season tour.

“I want to be at Manchester United for 20 years”.
Rúben Amorim

Amorim commented on the team culture and the changes implemented: “I think it’s something that concerns the whole club. It’s not one person who arrives and says that everything has to be changed. Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox were aligned on everything we needed to change. Of course, the coach is an important piece. Because if the coach doesn’t want to, it’s very difficult. But I feel that we are now more organized. I think everyone knows their place. This is my job, and everyone knows it. And that seems like a small thing, but it’s a big thing. I think we have improved even in the medical department and in nutrition. We are much better. What we eat, the way we behave on tour, on the field. The rules. I think everything is important. I know they are not children and I don’t treat the players like children. But I think these small rules can help a group be strong.”

Rubén Amorim, en su primera temporada en Old Trafford, aunque difícil, mantiene la esperanza en el futuro.

Regarding last season, Amorim admitted: “There were moments when I felt really frustrated.”

Regarding the departure of some players, Amorim explained: “We simply need to follow the markets. There are players who clearly show they don’t want to be here and that’s normal. They are not bad and I am good; I am not the bad guy and they are the good guys… it’s not that situation. It’s a simple situation that they want new challenges. So we will try to use this space to prepare the team that I think is going to stay. If the market closes and then they are Manchester United players, we as a club have to treat them under the same conditions. But at the moment I am only working with the players who I think are going to stay and the other guys are trying to find a solution for their careers.”

Regarding the new season, Amorim showed confidence: “When I see the team training and playing, my mood goes with the team. If I feel that everything is aligned, I get more excited. If I get more excited, I watch more videos, I watch more football, I have more ideas. So, at this moment, I am very confident.”

The goal for next season is clear: “We need to return to Europe”.

Amorim also highlighted the importance of the club’s culture: “I think it’s the culture. If we have a different culture, with all that, with all the pedigree, the money, all these things, we can return to our place. And that’s clear.”

Amorim Seeks Manchester United Resurrection The Portuguese coach, Rúben Amorim, is charting the course for Manchester United’s recovery.
