At the end of the day, it all starts with me,” Ward declared on Wednesday.

Cameron Ward

Ward’s statement came after two less-than-stellar days of play by the offense. During Wednesday’s practice, Ward suffered an interception at the hands of cornerback Roger McCreary, after a pass deflected by linebacker Cody Barton. This was Ward’s fourth intercepted pass in the last two practices, adding three more on Tuesday.

Despite acknowledging that not all interceptions were entirely his fault, Ward emphasized the need to improve his performance.

“I have to sync better with my receivers, study more videos, and be more accurate with the ball,” he added.

Cameron Ward

The defense has dominated in both practices with equipment. Ward has had difficulties completing long passes, one of his usual strengths. He managed to connect with wide receiver Calvin Ridley on a deep pass, although another similar attempt was not successful because Jha’Quan Jackson couldn’t catch the ball on a post route.

The Titans coach, Brian Callahan, anticipated a positive response from Ward. “That’s how it’s done,” Callahan commented. “I feel very good about his ability to respond to any negativity in general.”

This early adversity represents a good test for Ward, who will face challenges in leading an offense that averaged 18.3 points per game last season. Callahan praised Ward’s command of the offense, although the quarterback acknowledges that he must improve his timing and ball placement to the receivers.

“I may not be where I want to be, but I’m throwing to 15 or 16 different people every day,” Ward explained.

Cameron Ward

For this reason, Ward stays after practice to do extra repetitions. He has been seen working with receivers like Tyler Lockett, Xavier Restrepo, and Bryce Oliver. Although he usually works with Ridley after practice, the latter suffered a slight lower leg injury and was pulled for further evaluation, according to Titans sources.

Cameron Ward: “We’re very average right now” Amid a preseason that has presented challenges for the Tennessee Titans’ offense, rookie quarterback Cameron Ward expressed his feelings about the team’s performance. “I think we’re very average right now.
