The news was announced by his wife via social media.\n\nThe incident occurred on Monday night at the Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, Quebec, during the Super DIRTcar Series King of the North race.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n\n<p>&#8220;Stewart has suffered an unstable\/open-book pelvic fracture, which means his pelvis is broken in two or more places, with a large hematoma in the area,&#8221; Jessica Friesen published.<\/p>\n\n<cite>Jessica Friesen<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nA scan revealed that Friesen suffered no head, neck, or spinal injuries.\n\nIn the video of the accident, Friesen&#8217;s truck is seen impacting an exterior wall, overturning and catching fire. After falling heavily on the track, it was hit by another truck before his vehicle came to a stop on its wheels.\n\nJessica Friesen thanked the track team for their attention and care in getting her husband out of the truck.\n\nStewart Friesen is expected to be transferred to a New York hospital on Wednesday, where he will undergo multiple surgeries.\n\nHis wife expressed her gratitude to the hospital staff in Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, Quebec, for the excellent care, as well as to several members of the racing community who helped facilitate Stewart&#8217;s transfer home.
