He managed to walk off the field slowly, with the help of Micah Parsons.

Although it’s still a setback for the offensive line, the situation isn’t as serious as it could have been. Guyton, the Cowboys’ first pick in 2024, had some ups and downs in the 15 games (11 starts) he played, but he had a productive offseason in terms of improving his physique and his game.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that Guyton was more confident at the start of his second season.

“The fact that he’s willing to try different positions and use the different tools that [offensive coordinator Klayton Adams and offensive line coach Conor Riley] have given him shows me that he has confidence and believes in the tools he’s been given,” Schottenheimer commented.

Brian Schottenheimer

Without Guyton, the Cowboys have Asim Richards, who started one game at left tackle last season, Hakeem Adeniji, and rookie Ajani Cornelius as possible replacements.

Adeniji played as a left tackle with the Cincinnati Bengals, but spent most of his time as a right tackle. With Terence Steele, the right tackle, recently affected by an ankle injury, Adeniji had been working with the starters.

The Cowboys could also consider Tyler Smith, left guard, for the position, but he has been selected for the Pro Bowl in the last two seasons. He started 15 games at left tackle in his first year in 2022, after Tyron Smith suffered a hamstring injury that required surgery.

Guyton was the 29th overall pick in 2024 and moved to left tackle in his rookie season, after playing right tackle in his final season at Oklahoma.

Guyton is the second offensive lineman the Cowboys have lost in a few days. Guard Rob Jones fractured a bone in his neck on Sunday. Although he will not need surgery, he will be out of action for two to three months.

Good news for the Cowboys: Guyton avoids serious injury OXNARD, Calif. – The Dallas Cowboys breathed a sigh of relief after learning the results of Tyler Guyton’s MRI.
