Travis Hunter: Adapting to the Dual Role with the Jaguars<\/h2>\n\nRookie receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter feels optimistic about the preparation the Jacksonville Jaguars are giving him to become the NFL’s first two-way regular player since Chuck Bednarik in 1962.\n\nHunter has been alternating between offense and defense in training, which allows him to assimilate information more effectively.\n\n\n

I need to be able to process everything fast, quickly. When I’m on the defensive side, if the offense changes its strength, I have to know what I’m doing immediately. And if the offense changes the play, I have to know what I’m doing immediately. So I like that we’re starting slow, adjusting, making sure I know where I need to be on one side of the ball every day and then everything will come together.<\/p>Travis Hunter<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nHead coach Liam Coen mentioned that Hunter will eventually work on both sides of the ball in the same practice, but for now they are focusing on avoiding overloading him.\n\nCoen has praised Hunter’s attitude and performance, highlighting his ability to handle the workload.\n\nHunter participated in 23 plays during Friday’s practice, facing receiver Brian Thomas Jr. and was not the direct target of quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence and Nick Mullens on any throws.\n\nHunter expressed his desire to spend more time in the field to continue learning defense and hone his skills.\n\nIn the days he works on offense, Hunter collaborates with the special teams coaches and on defense days, he works with the receivers coaches.\n\nHunter divides his time between offensive and defensive meetings, and considers the mental aspect of playing on both sides of the ball to be the biggest challenge at the moment.\n\n\n
