ROCHESTER, N.Y. \u2013 New York Yankees prospect Spencer Jones showcased his power by hitting three home runs in his first three at-bats during Scranton\/Wilkes-Barre’s 10-8 loss to Rochester last Thursday.<\/p>\n
Jones, whose name has echoed in rumors of possible transfers, is a left-handed hitter who, with his imposing figure of 6 feet 7 inches and 240 pounds, leads the minor league baseball with 29 home runs.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old, former Vanderbilt star, has 13 home runs in 19 games in the Triple-A category. The Yankees selected him in the 25th position of the 2022 draft.<\/p>\n
Jones achieved his first three-home-run game, all connected against Bryce Conley’s pitches, and in two-strike situations. In the first at-bat, Jones hit a changeup from Conley, sending the ball 401 feet towards left-center field. In the third inning, Jones started with a 425-foot hit to right field, and added another 433-foot hit to center field in the fifth inning. Furthermore, in the bottom of the fifth, he made a sliding catch to end the inning.<\/p>\n
