With this change, the number of head coaches in the PWHL is reduced to only two in the eight teams that make up the league.\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a4.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F0723%2Fr1522599_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"Kris Sparre, nuevo entrenador de Boston Fleet\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\nThe new coach, with previous experience in the AHL, faces significant challenges, including the departure of Hilary Knight, a key figure on the team, who was sent to Seattle after being unprotected in the expansion draft.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This is an incredible opportunity to be part of a league that has experienced remarkable growth and momentum in recent seasons. Previously, he was an assistant coach at Red Bull Salzburg between 2019 and 2021, and then spent three seasons with the San Diego Gulls, the AHL affiliate of the Anaheim Ducks.\n\nDanielle Marmer, Fleet&#8217;s general manager, highlighted Sparre&#8217;s experience in the AHL, where coaches must balance success with player development, as a key factor in his appointment.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Our players need to grow and perform in real time, and Kris understands how to create that environment. He is known as a coach who focuses on relationships and an elite communicator, someone who builds trust, connects with the players, and brings energy and purpose to the court every day.<\/p><cite>Danielle Marmer<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe Fleet team has eight players remaining from the roster that reached the final in the inaugural PWHL season. However, they will have to make up for the absence of Hilary Knight, 36, captain and finalist for the league&#8217;s MVP award, who is leaving for Seattle after being unprotected in the expansion draft.
