New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been cleared to participate in the first day of training camp practices, according to sources close to the team. Diggs, who reported to training camp on Saturday along with other players in rehabilitation, is ready to start training.
\nDiggs suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in Week 8 of last season while playing for the Houston Texans.
\nIn March, the Patriots signed Diggs to a lucrative free agent contract, which included a significant sum in bonuses and guaranteed money. The team projects that his recovery would be successful, and that he could become a primary option for second-year quarterback Drake Maye.
\nThe first sign that Diggs was cleared to practice came on Saturday, when New England placed four players on the physically unable to perform list, and Diggs was not one of them.
\nDiggs, 31, practiced in a limited capacity in the spring and stated in June that he was not yet 100%, but that he was close to reaching that state.
\nDiggs joins Mack Hollins, third-year receiver DeMario Douglas, and the 2025 third-round pick, Kyle Williams, at the top of the receiver depth chart, with several others competing for a roster spot.
