A well, let’s say, dirty game. Those six errors on the scoreboard. Sometimes you know, errors that lie, but that scoreboard doesn’t lie.

Gilbert Gómez, manager of the Tigres del Licey

Gómez explained that, although the team showed responsiveness and kept the match close, defensive errors were the determining factor. When questioned about whether this was due to a disconnect between his players, the manager ruled out that possibility, arguing that it was a matter of lapses in concentration and an excessive desire to make extra plays.

Albert Abreu stands out on a bittersweet night

Despite the adverse result, the coaching staff highlighted high-level individual performances. Pitcher Albert Abreu was the brightest spot of the day, completing five innings of work in which he allowed just one hit and recorded eight strikeouts.

“Abreu pitched a masterful game. I think it’s one of the best I’ve ever seen Albert pitch,” stated Gómez. Likewise, the manager acknowledged the offensive effort of Gustavo Núñez, who finished the day 5-for-5, along with the contributions of Melvin and Emilio Bonifacio, lamenting that the individual display was not enough to neutralize the defensive errors.

Latest news on Christian Adames and José Barrero

Regarding the health of his players, the manager reported that Christian Adames remains under medical observation after experiencing discomfort in his lower back. Currently, Adames is receiving treatment and corrective exercises, so his return to the lineup is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

On the other hand, Gómez stepped up to defend José Barrero, who has been the target of criticism after committing three errors in his last five games. The manager reiterated his full confidence in Barrero’s defensive ability and described him as a professional who brings versatility to the team.
