The Estrellas Orientales maintain a dominant pace in the 2026-2027 autumn-winter baseball tournament, achieving their third consecutive victory by defeating the Gigantes del Cibao 12-6 at the Julián Javier Stadium. With this result, the San Pedro de Macorís team brings their record to 5-2, catching up with the Tigres del Licey at the top of the standings.

The green offensive has been relentless, totaling 24 runs and 24 hits in their last two matchups against the Giants’ pitching. On this day, the attack was led by an explosion of power that included home runs from Raimel Tapia, César Prieto, and Leo Bernal, who were key pieces in securing the victory.

César Prieto had an outstanding performance, batting 4-for-5, contributing a double, a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored. For his part, Raimel Tapia contributed a two-run homer, while Leo Bernal sealed the score in the eighth inning with another two-run blast.

The offensive display of 13 hits allowed the Estrellas to take definitive control of the game from the early innings, maintaining constant pressure on the local pitching staff.

From the mound, Geison Urbáez earned the victory (1-0) after a four-inning performance, allowing only two hits and striking out two rivals. The loss went to the Giants’ starter, Jared Wetherbee (0-1), who was punished with five runs in just one and a third innings of work.

Although the Gigantes tried to react early with a home run by Noelvi Marte in the first inning, the depth of the Estrellas’ lineup was too much for the local pitching. The visiting team capitalized on defensive errors and maintained a constant attack, highlighting the second-inning rally and the consolidation of the lead in the final part of the game with runs by Bernal, Prieto, and Lester.

The Estrellas Orientales are not letting their guard down and will continue their schedule on the road. This Monday, they will travel to Estadio Cibao in Santiago to face the Águilas Cibaeñas at 7:30 PM. For this matchup, the eastern team has announced the experienced Esmil Rogers as their starting pitcher.
