At 13 years old, Davis made history by being the first girl to earn a win and a shutout in the Little League World Series.\n\nNow, Davis is one of more than 600 athletes who will seek a place in the Women&#8217;s Professional Baseball League (WPBL), which is scheduled to launch next year.\n\nThe selection tests will be held in Washington, D.C., from August 22 to 25.\n\nThe WPBL aims to start its season in the summer of 2026 with six teams. This league will mark the return of professional women&#8217;s baseball in the United States, since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, immortalized in the film &#8220;A League of Their Own&#8221;, disappeared in 1954.\n\nIn next month&#8217;s trials, 150 players will be selected for the league&#8217;s inaugural draft in October.\n\nDavis&#8217;s rise to fame was meteoric in 2014, when he was throwing fastballs at 70 mph for the Taney Youth Baseball Association of Philadelphia, during that year&#8217;s Little League World Series.\n\nDavis became an instant inspiration for fans of all ages.
