The President of Peru, Keiko Fujimori, has announced a drastic measure to curb the wave of crime affecting the country. During an official ceremony at the Army General Headquarters in Lima, the president announced the creation of a unified command that will integrate the efforts of the National Police and the Armed Forces. This new body will have a strategic control and operations center aimed at coordinating decisive actions against criminal gangs.<\/p>\n\n
The decision was made following a session of the National Security and Defense Council (Cosedena), where the need for a shift in public security strategy was determined. Fujimori highlighted the urgency of these actions due to the climate of fear that citizens are experiencing in the face of extortion and armed violence.<\/p>\n\n

International cooperation and new control measures<\/h2>\n\n
As part of this new security policy, the head of state extended an invitation to foreign governments to collaborate through the exchange of technology, intelligence, and resources. The goal is to strengthen the country’s operational capabilities against transnational criminal organizations.<\/p>\n\n
Among the main axes of the new strategy, the Government has detailed the following points:<\/p>\n\n
- Execution of intensive search and capture operations for criminals.<\/li>
- Acceleration of deportation processes for foreign citizens who break the law.<\/li>
- Recovery of control in penitentiary centers, with special emphasis on the isolation of prisoners who coordinate criminal activities from within prisons.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n
President Fujimori called for national unity, summoning political forces, the private sector, and the Judiciary to work together in an accelerated manner.
