The legislator emphasized the need to mitigate the impact of the armed gangs that keep the neighboring nation in a state of anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Hopefully, in this case, due attention will be paid to the requests of President Luis Abinader, of all Dominicans, and of the Haitian people, who continue to suffer the onslaught of those gangs that have decided to finish off what little remains in that country.<\/p><cite>Soraya Su\u00e1rez, Deputy for Santiago<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Regarding the position of the Dominican Republic, Su\u00e1rez emphasized that, while the country maintains its commitment to solidarity, this should not translate into a commitment that affects national interests. The congresswoman reiterated that the Dominican government has the primary responsibility to ensure the progress and well-being of its own citizens.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Defense of immigration controls<\/h3>\n\n<p>The legislator was emphatic in supporting the tightening of immigration policies. According to Su\u00e1rez, respect for Dominican laws is non-negotiable and any foreigner, regardless of their nationality, must face legal consequences if they commit offenses within the national territory.<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Unrestricted defense of national sovereignty against external pressures.<\/li><li>Rigorous application of immigration laws to ensure border control.<\/li><li>International solidarity that does not compromise the stability and interests of the Dominican Republic.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want to help you, but you cannot impose anything on us. We have every right to defend our sovereignty,\u201d the congresswoman pointed out.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Santiago: economic engine and capital of development<\/h3>\n\n<p>During her participation in the 41st session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), held in the Heart City, Su\u00e1rez highlighted Santiago&#8217;s economic boom.
