The educational community celebrated the official inauguration of the Pedro Martínez Educational and Sports Complex, a center that promises to transform the future of hundreds of Dominican youths. During the event, student Jade García Aristy was the voice of her peers, offering an emotional speech that highlighted the transformative impact of this new infrastructure.

García Aristy, who also stands out in the sports field, thanked President Luis Abinader, the star Pedro Martínez, and his wife, Carolina Cruz de Martínez, for materializing this project that combines academic excellence with high-performance athletic training.

Today we are not just inaugurating walls, desks, and chalkboards; today we are inaugurating dreams. Every educational center is a womb. Here, the future of a nation will be shaped, where a child will learn to read their first words and perhaps tomorrow will write the history of our country.
Jade García Aristy

More than a center, a home for talent

The young student’s speech underscored that the purpose of the complex transcends conventional classrooms. According to García Aristy, the space is designed so that young people not only acquire knowledge, but also develop fundamental values, learn to serve their community, and strengthen their physical capabilities.

- Sports opportunities: The complex will allow young athletes to develop their talents until they reach a high-performance level.

- Comprehensive training: An approach that combines academic learning with personal growth and the promotion of values.

- Teacher recognition: The student dedicated a special space to thank the work of the teachers, whom she described as the guides in this noble mission.

Addressing her peers, Jade emphasized the warmth of the new environment, ensuring that the complex will serve as a second home where every student will be constantly supported, guided, and motivated.

The power of opportunity

To conclude her speech, the student echoed Pedro Martínez’s own vision of how a well-seized opportunity can change the course of a life. With an inspiring message, she urged those present to value education as the main engine of social change.

We are products of an opportunity and today we are here to demonstrate that there is power in learning.
Jade García Aristy
