Despite not being included on the team, the Rangers awarded Eovaldi the $100,000 bonus stipulated in his contract for his outstanding performance. During that period, Eovaldi recorded an ERA of 1.58 with 94 strikeouts in 91 innings.<\/p>\n
His teammate, Jacob deGrom, who was selected for the All-Star Game, also received a bonus of $100,000.<\/p>\n
In his 15th season in the Major Leagues, Eovaldi would lead MLB in ERA. However, after missing a month due to a triceps injury, he was six innings short of reaching the 97 needed to qualify among the leaders in individual statistical categories.<\/p>\n
The right-handed pitcher ranks second, just behind Tarik Skubal of the Detroit Tigers, among MLB pitchers in WHIP (0.85) and in strikeout-to-walk ratio (6.71).
