During the forum titled \u201cPISA 2025: from diagnosis to informed dialogue and decision-making,\u201d Professor Radham\u00e9s Mej\u00eda, director of the entity, underscored the importance of moving away from viewing these assessments solely as a competition for rankings. The central objective is to understand the current state of learning and determine the necessary actions to optimize teaching.<\/p>\n\n

Critical challenges: Curriculum versus classroom reality<\/h2>\n\n
The analysis reveals that, although there are advances in certain sectors, the Dominican educational system still faces both lights and shadows. Mej\u00eda emphasized that there is a worrying gap between what the official curriculum establishes as learning goals and what students actually manage to assimilate in the classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n

- Gap in school promotion:<\/strong> It is required to ensure that academic grade advancement is backed by real competencies, preventing students from passing to the next grade without having acquired the necessary knowledge.<\/li>\n
- Multifactoriality:<\/strong> Educational difficulties do not depend on a single factor, but on a complex interaction between school conditions, teacher performance, and the students’ environment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n
The report also highlights a positive point: the existence of students who, despite facing unfavorable socioeconomic conditions, achieve outstanding performance, which demonstrates that it is possible to improve results with the right strategies.<\/p>\n\n
