The Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD 2026) has transcended literary pages to become an epicenter of innovation. In this edition, attendees can immerse themselves in cutting-edge technological experiences, where aviation, video games, and robotics occupy a privileged place in the Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza.<\/p>\n\n
The event, which will run until October 4th, features Panama as the guest country of honor and pays a well-deserved tribute to writer Jos\u00e9 M\u00e1rmol, offering a diverse agenda that includes cinema, theater, and arts, in addition to the technological proposals presented by the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) and the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA).<\/p>\n\n
One of the biggest attractions is the space dedicated to aeronautics. The IDAC, together with the Higher Academy of Aeronautical Sciences, has provided professional flight simulators that allow visitors to experience piloting an aircraft. Users have the opportunity to manipulate the controls, execute flight maneuvers, and face the challenge of performing a controlled landing, bringing the complexity of aviation to the general public.<\/p>\n\n
Although these simulators are part of the tools used in pilot training, during the fair they serve an educational purpose by bringing the public closer to the world of aviation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
Student innovation and robotics<\/h2>\n\n
For its part, ITLA has integrated technology with entertainment through various interactive stations:<\/p>\n\n
- Driving simulator:<\/strong> A vibrant experience that transports participants into a virtual vehicle race.<\/li>
- Student arcade:<\/strong> A selection of video games developed entirely by the institution’s students.<\/li>
- Robotics exhibition:<\/strong> The presentation of “La Cacata,” a high-performance robot used by ITLA in NASA competitions, which highlights the level of Dominican engineering.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n
