The Atlanta Dream’s star player, Rhyne Howard, will not be available to play for the rest of July due to a left knee injury. The announcement was made on Monday by the team, following the diagnosis of the injury suffered during Friday’s game against the Indiana Fever.<\/p>\n
Howard, who was the first pick in the 2022 draft, was selected for her third All-Star this month and was chosen by Team Collier. If she is unable to participate in Saturday’s event, Commissioner Cathy Engelbert will have to select a player to replace her.<\/p>\n
The team reported that Howard is expected to make a full recovery and a timeline for his return will be provided in due course.<\/p>\n
The 6-foot-2-inch player suffered the injury in the first half of Friday’s game and had to be carried off the court on a stretcher. Although she returned to play in the second half, participating for 14 minutes, Atlanta ultimately lost the match with a score of 99-82. Howard did not play in Sunday’s game against the New York Liberty, where the Liberty managed a 19-point comeback.<\/p>\n
