The intervention took place after the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) issued an alert regarding a vessel requesting assistance on the high seas.<\/p>\n\n<p>To address the emergency, the institution deployed the interceptor boat REGULUS LI-165, which located a 32-foot-long vessel equipped with two outboard motors: one 250-horsepower Yamaha and one 40-horsepower Johnson. During the inspection, it was confirmed that the vessel had failures in its propulsion system.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Operation details<\/h3>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Occupants:<\/strong> 38 people of Haitian nationality (31 men and 7 women).<\/li><li><strong>Vulnerable group:<\/strong> Among the passengers was a minor approximately seven years of age.<\/li><li><strong>Current status:<\/strong> The vessel and the citizens were transferred under custody to the Manzanillo Port Captaincy for the corresponding legal purposes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The Dominican Republic Navy reaffirms its commitment to the constant surveillance of our coasts, prioritizing the protection of human life at sea and the prevention of irregular maritime activities that compromise national security.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n<p>Although preliminary investigations suggest that the vessel was being used for an irregular sea voyage, the authorities have not yet determined the final destination the occupants were seeking.
