Kylian Mbappé, the Real Madrid star, has spoken out about his aspirations for the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony. The French forward made it clear that, although winning the award is an ambitious goal, it has not become an obsession that clouds his professional focus.

The attacker acknowledges that the prestigious individual award is a natural goal for any high-level competitor. A few days before the ceremony, Mbappé is fully confident that his statistical records during the past season position him as a solid candidate to win the trophy for the first time in his career.

I have had a great year on an individual level. I have been the top scorer in all the major competitions and I think it could be a good year for me.
Kylian Mbappé

A tighter competition

For the captain of the French national team, the current edition of the Ballon d’Or is perceived as much more balanced than in previous years. Mbappé believes that this uncertainty adds an element of excitement for both the players and the general public, who are closely following the race for the recognition of the best player in the world.

Regarding his personality and the confidence with which he expresses himself to the media, the Real Madrid player was emphatic in pointing out that his direct style is part of his essence:

- I have never wanted to be liked by everyone.

- I try to be myself, with my qualities and my flaws.

- I accept my conquests and my failures with the same naturalness.

The impact of the World Cup on their bid

One of the fundamental pillars supporting his aspiration is his performance in the World Cup. Mbappé became the all-time top scorer of said competition, a milestone that, although bittersweet for not having lifted the title, underscores his decisive impact on the pitch.

The striker reiterated that, as it is an individual award, the voters’ focus should be on the ability to make a difference and the consistency demonstrated throughout the football season. With this mindset, the Real Madrid forward awaits the final decision, maintaining confidence that his goal-scoring ability and influence on the pitch will be enough to be recognized as the best footballer of the season.
