This decision marks a continuity in his stance, as he did not participate in the diplomatic meeting organized by the American president the previous year either, delegating the representation on that occasion to King Felipe VI.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A schedule full of international commitments<\/h2>\n\n<p>Despite his absence at the reception, Pedro S\u00e1nchez maintains intense activity in New York. During this Tuesday, the Spanish president will participate in the opening of the general debate of the UN General Assembly, an event in which Donald Trump will also speak and where S\u00e1nchez will be accompanied by the Third Vice President, Sara Aagesen, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jos\u00e9 Manuel Albares.<\/p>\n\n<p>The Spanish leader&#8217;s agenda includes various topics of global relevance:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bilateral meeting with the British Prime Minister, Andy Burnham.<\/li>\n<li>Participation in a tribute to the renowned writer and journalist Gloria Steinem.<\/li>\n<li>Sessions dedicated to the protection of children against the risks of artificial intelligence.<\/li>\n<li>Defense and promotion of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>On Monday, S\u00e1nchez held a key meeting with UN Secretary-General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres to analyze critical challenges such as the situation in the Middle East, climate change, and the global impact of artificial intelligence.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>It is worth remembering that S\u00e1nchez already had a similar absence in 2024 when the reception was hosted by Joe Biden, because the event&#8217;s schedule coincided directly with his address to the General Assembly.
