The Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2026 (FILSD 2026) will feature a robust security deployment consisting of more than 500 personnel from state agencies. The main objective of the operation is to safeguard the integrity of the thousands of attendees who will gather at the Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Plaza from September 24 to October 4.<\/p>\n\n
This edition, which celebrates literature with Panama as the guest country of honor and pays tribute to the Dominican writer Jos\u00e9 M\u00e1rmol, will offer an extensive cultural agenda with more than 700 activities. The event will feature the presence of 70 international authors, in addition to a large representation of local publishers and bookstores.<\/p>\n\n
The protection plan is a joint effort that involves the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force), the National Police, and its various specialized directorates, including DICRIM, Politur, and the School Police. Likewise, intelligence agencies, the DNCD, and the Municipal Police join in to ensure a controlled environment.<\/p>\n\n
Security will be based on a dynamic and static scheme, with constant patrols and strategic checkpoints both on the external perimeters and inside the pavilions and museums.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n
Rules and logistics for visitors<\/h2>\n\n
To ensure an organized experience, the authorities have established strict access protocols:<\/p>\n\n\n
- Use of metal detectors and visual inspections at entry points.<\/li>
- Prohibition of firearms, bladed weapons, alcoholic beverages, glass containers, and noisy objects such as trumpets.<\/li>
- Restriction of political and religious propaganda and unauthorized street vending.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n
Regarding mobility, DIGESETT and INTRANT will manage vehicular flow in the surrounding areas. Attendees will have access to more than 1,300 parking spaces enabled at nearby institutions such as UNAPEC, UNIBE, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Olympic Stadium, and MESCYT, facilitating access to the venue.<\/p>\n\n
Medical attention and citizen assistance<\/h2>\n\n
Preventive security is complemented by a rapid response system. A Unified Command Post will coordinate efforts with the 911 System, the DAEH, the Civil Defense, and the National District Fire Department.
