The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Nawaf Salam, has initiated high-level diplomatic efforts with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ant\u00f3nio Guterres, to ensure the continuity of an international monitoring force in the south of the country. During the meeting held at the UN headquarters in New York, Salam emphasized the need to establish a mechanism that guarantees regional stability once the approximately 7,500 troops of the current mission leave the area. The situation in southern Lebanon remains tense following the conflicts that began in March, which led to the presence of Israeli troops in a 10-kilometer security zone within Lebanese territory.
