His fastball averages 99.3 mph, and he has thrown 89 pitches at 100 mph or more this season.\n\n\n

MLB focuses on the most marketable players. If they can have someone in the game who pitches an inning and throws 103, 104, they’re going to attract more attention.<\/p>Nick Castellanos<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nTrea Turner wondered if popular additions like Misiorowski detract from the All-Star selection process.\n\n\n

Yes, 100 percent. It’s not the All-Star Game in the sense that the best players go there, or the people who have had the best season. It’s who sells the most tickets or has been most promoted on social media. That’s what it has become.<\/p>Trea Turner<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Although not as flashy as Misiorowski, both Suarez and Sanchez have credentials worthy of the All-Star Game this season.<\/p>\n\n\nAfter missing the first month, Suarez is 7-3 with a 1.94 ERA in 83.2 innings, the lowest in the National League for any pitcher with at least 80 innings pitched.\n\nSuarez said that MLB invited him to the All-Star Game on the condition that he be available to pitch. The lefty said he declined, citing his desire to rest, and therefore, MLB opted not to name him an All-Star.\n\n\n

Even if you’re going to ask him that, then he should be labeled as an All-Star at that moment. Not just if you can pitch.<\/p>Kyle Schwarber<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nSanchez is 7-2 with a 2.59 ERA, the fourth-lowest in the league among qualified starters, and has a 4.1 WAR, the third-best among National League pitchers.\n\n\n
