The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) has launched an important national consultation focused on the male population. Clinical psychologist Luis Verg\u00e9s emphasized that a large portion of perpetrators of extreme violence have had no prior contact with the judicial system nor have they gone through re-education programs. Therefore, the study aims to reach men who, until now, have remained off the authorities’ radar, thus allowing for the design of evidence-based strategies for timely intervention.<\/p>\n\n
For his part, the Vice-Rector of Extension at the UASD, Gerardo Roa Ogando, stressed that values-based education from home is an indispensable pillar for eradicating violence. According to Roa Ogando, it is vital to foster respect for human dignity as a basis for healthy coexistence between genders.<\/p>\n\n
Institutional collaboration<\/h3>\n\n
This project, led by the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences of the UASD, is supported by the Ministry of Women. The academy has also expressed its interest in analyzing parallel social phenomena, such as the decrease in male presence in certain university degree programs, a factor that could shed light on the changes in current social dynamics.<\/p>\n\n
