The Dominican Republic is preparing for an unprecedented sporting event. The 2026 RD Inclusive Games have received official backing from President Luis Abinader, consolidating themselves as a fundamental platform for the development of adaptive sports and social integration throughout the national territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This edition will feature the participation of more than 500 athletes with disabilities, who will demonstrate their talent and capabilities in various disciplines. The event not only seeks to promote healthy competition, but will also serve as an essential filter to select the athletes who will make up the Dominican delegation for the upcoming Special Olympics World Summer Games, to be held in Chile in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nWe faithfully believe in sport as a tool to generate opportunities, promote inclusion, and recognize the talent of people with disabilities. An inter-institutional effort for sports<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The success of this call is due to the synergy between various government and sports entities. The organizing committee is composed of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Special Olympics Dominican Republic.<\/li>\n
- National Council on Disability (CONADIS).<\/li>\n
- Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC).<\/li>\n
- Ministry of Education (MINERD), through the Directorate of Special Education.<\/li>\n
- National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
During a recent meeting, representatives such as Benny Metz, president of CONADIS; Minister of Sports Kelvin Cruz; and Rafael D\u00edaz, executive director of Special Olympics DR, reaffirmed the commitment of these institutions to equal opportunities. The goal is clear: to transform the national sports culture through a model based on respect and the active participation of all citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
International projection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Beyond the positive impact on local communities, the 2026 RD Inclusive Games are the key piece for the international projection of Dominican athletes. By identifying and fostering local talent on this stage, the country seeks to strengthen the Special Olympics movement and ensure a competitive and dignified representation at the 2027 world event in Chile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
