The Dominican Mining Company (Emidom) and the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) have formalized a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening atmospheric observation infrastructure in the province of Pedernales. This inter-institutional agreement includes the installation of three state-of-the-art automatic weather stations, designed to optimize risk management and the early warning system in this southwestern area of the country.<\/p>\n\n
The new units will be strategically located in the \u00c1vila Mining Fiscal Reserve (RFMA). These devices will operate in compliance with the international standards of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), which will allow for the capture of precise measurements regarding rainfall, winds, and temperatures, crucial data that has historically been scarce in this demarcation.<\/p>\n\n
This initiative not only responds to the environmental baseline needs of Emidom’s projects in the region, but also seeks to integrate the collected information into the National Meteorological Data Bank (Bandamet) of Indomet. In this way, the national forecasting system is enriched, directly benefiting vital sectors such as agriculture, fishing, and civil management in the face of natural phenomena.<\/p>\n\n
For Emidom, this agreement represents much more than a technical requirement for our project: it is an opportunity to provide top-tier scientific infrastructure to Pedernales, a province that for years has lacked sufficient meteorological monitoring points. - Emidom:<\/strong> Will be responsible for the installation, calibration, and logistics necessary for the proper functioning of the stations, in addition to sharing the generated data.<\/li>\n
- Indomet:<\/strong> Will provide technical support, staff training, scientific validation of the data, and supervision of preventive maintenance under current international protocols.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n
