President Luis Abinader led the inauguration ceremony for this road project, designed to transform local mobility, boost the agricultural sector, and promote ecotourism in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project execution was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC), with the strategic support of the European Investment Bank (EIB). The intervention covered the total rehabilitation of 5.8 kilometers of local roads, ensuring a safe and efficient connection between rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical details and resilience of the work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The new infrastructure not only improves traffic, but also integrates modern engineering elements to withstand natural phenomena. Among the main components of the project are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Construction of three strategic bridges: one over the Jamao River (33 meters) and two additional ones over the Aguacate and Quebrada streams (20 meters each).<\/li>\n<li>Installation of a new high-resistance asphalt layer.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of storm drainage systems, gabion walls, road signage, and construction of sidewalks and curbs.<\/li>\n<li>LED lighting on the bridges for greater nighttime safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>I was able to understand in a very concrete way the difficulties faced by the families living here: difficulties in getting around, in taking their products to market, in reaching school or a health center. That is why, today, I can personally attest to the enormous change that this project represents for this community.<\/p>\n<cite>Mariana Ruiz Alvarado, Head of the Caribbean Regional Office of the European Investment Bank.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Social and economic impact<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Las Espinas road directly benefits the communities of Las Espinas and El Ramonal, in addition to establishing a vital link with Boca de Jamao, Las Caobas, and Los Brazos. According to the authorities, the project is a fundamental pillar of the PRORESILIENCIA program, supported by the European Union to strengthen the communities&#8217; capacity to respond to climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The European Union ambassador, Ra\u00fal Fuentes, stressed that these types of investments are key to inclusive growth.
