Given the high incidence of these vehicles in both road accidents and criminal acts, various sectors are demanding decisive actions from the authorities.<\/p>\n\n<p>During the RD Debate dialogue space, councilman and communicator Dary Terrero emphasized the importance of establishing strict control over the two-wheeled vehicle fleet. According to Terrero, it is fundamental that the State guarantees that every unit circulating through the national territory has a clear and updated identification, thus facilitating the work of oversight and the regulation of transportation.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I believe that no criminal act occurs in the Dominican Republic without the presence of a motorcycle.<\/p><cite>Dary Terrero, councilman and communicator<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact on national security and mobility<\/h3>\n\n<p>The councilman stressed that motorcycles represent the most widely used mode of transport by the Dominican population, making them a key piece of the national mobility system. However, this mass adoption brings with it critical challenges that cannot be ignored:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>High accident rate:<\/strong> It is estimated that nearly 70% of deaths recorded in traffic accidents involve motorcycles.<\/li><li><strong>Public safety:<\/strong> There is a concerning correlation between the use of these vehicles and various criminal activities in the country.<\/li><li><strong>Oversight:<\/strong> It is imperative to enforce current regulations regarding municipal registries to have real control over who the owners and users of these means of transport are.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>Terrero described motorcycles as the main challenge for Dominican traffic, advocating for a comprehensive approach that combines road safety education with effective law enforcement.
