According to the latest reports from the Coast Guard, the number of fatalities has risen to 76, while search efforts continue to locate 13 people who remain missing.<\/p>\n\n<p>The rescue operation allowed for the recovery of 41 bodies during this Saturday, which are in addition to the 35 corpses found in the previous days, since the search efforts began last Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Details of the incident and origin of the flames<\/h3>\n\n<p>Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire originated in the vessel&#8217;s cargo hold, which had set sail on Tuesday from Manila bound for Coron, a journey estimated at about 12 hours. The fire spread with alarming speed, affecting the 132 people who were on board, consisting of 115 passengers and 17 crew members.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">The authorities are keeping investigations open to clarify the exact causes of the accident and determine if there was any type of negligence in the handling of safety on board.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Search for the captain and survivors<\/h3>\n\n<p>Commodore Noemie Cayabyab, spokesperson for the Coast Guard, noted that while the passenger manifest records 13 missing persons, the presence of additional individuals not listed on the official manifest cannot be ruled out. Among the focal points of the investigation is locating the ship&#8217;s captain, who is being sought to provide a statement regarding his actions during the emergency.<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Authorities are evaluating possible negligence on the part of the crew.<\/li><li>The captain faces legal responsibilities linked to the safety of the vessel.<\/li><li>Two citizens of Chilean origin have been confirmed among the 43 survivors rescued.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>The Chilean citizens were transported to a hospital facility to receive medical attention.
