Dominican prospect Leodalis de Vries, ranked as the organization&#8217;s number one jewel and the second-best talent in all of Major League Baseball, will miss a significant part of his development due to surgery.<\/p>\n\n<p>De Vries, who plays as a shortstop and is just 19 years old, will undergo surgery on September 18 to repair a tear in the anterior labrum of his right shoulder. It is estimated that the rehabilitation process will take about eight months, which delays his aspirations of moving up to the next competitive level immediately.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A high-level season interrupted<\/h3>\n\n<p>Before shoulder discomfort forced him to stop his activity, the young Dominican talent was putting together an outstanding campaign in Double-A. His numbers reflect the impact he has made on the farm system:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Batting average of .290.<\/li><li>On-base percentage (OBP) of .378.<\/li><li>Slugging percentage of .458.<\/li><li>13 home runs and 21 doubles.<\/li><li>55 runs batted in and 34 stolen bases in 93 games.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>Due to this solid performance, there was a strong expectation regarding his imminent promotion to Triple-A. Now, the player&#8217;s focus will be on an effective recovery, with the organization projecting his return to the playing fields for the first two months of the 2027 season.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concern for Jamie Arnold<\/h3>\n\n<p>Bad luck also reached lefty Jamie Arnold, the Athletics&#8217; third-ranked prospect and number 57 overall. The 22-year-old pitcher suffered an alarming incident during his second Triple-A start with the Las Vegas Aviators.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">Arnold was struck by a line drive on the left side of his face during the first inning, which forced his immediate transfer to a local hospital to receive specialized medical attention.<\/p>\n\n\n<p>The pitcher, selected in the 2025 Draft, was coming off an impressive streak with a 2.43 ERA in Double-A, in addition to a promising debut in Triple-A where he pitched five scoreless innings.
