Alofoke Sports: Dominican Republic seeks to make the leap to the Major Leagues with a new stadium in La Fe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The dream of seeing Major League Baseball (MLB) games on Dominican soil is closer to becoming a reality. The Executive Branch has formally submitted to the Chamber of Deputies a bill aimed at transforming the Ensanche La Fe, through the construction of a modern baseball stadium that meets the international standards required by the American league.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The proposal was delivered to the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, by an official commission led by the Legal Consultant of the Executive Branch. The central objective is to develop a large-scale sports and urban complex that utilizes state-owned land under an efficient and transparent management model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A management model with state guarantee<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unlike conventional public-private partnerships, this project will be governed by a specific law. This decision seeks to shield the State’s interests, ensuring that public participation is permanent and that any future modification mandatorily requires the endorsement of the National Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It must not appear that the State is going to simply hand over land in exchange for nothing. The State’s interest is 100% guaranteed.<\/p>\nLegal Consultancy of the Executive Branch<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Development and Export Bank (Bandex) will play a key role as a representative of public interests in the project’s governance structure, which also contemplates the revaluation and management of the current Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium and the Carlos Teo Cruz Boxing Coliseum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than baseball: an urban impact project<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The project is not limited exclusively to the playing field. The initiative contemplates an ambitious master plan that will integrate:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Mixed-use real estate developments.<\/li>\n
  • Hotel complexes and shopping malls.<\/li>\n
  • Modern residential projects.<\/li>\n
  • Comprehensive urban transformation of the Ensanche La Fe area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Alfredo Pacheco highlighted that this project will not only modernize sports infrastructure but will also act as an economic engine for surrounding sectors such as Cristo Rey, La Agustina, Naco, and Arroyo Hondo, taking advantage of land that is currently not being utilized to its full capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
