Despite the climatic challenges imposed by the El Ni\u00f1o phenomenon, the country maintains strategic management of its resources.<\/p>\n\n<p>According to official figures, the 18 dams in the national system currently have storage levels ranging between 55% and 60%. In volumetric terms, this represents nearly 1,196 million cubic meters, which is equivalent to approximately 59% of the total capacity installed in the national territory.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Current status of reservoirs<\/h3>\n\n<p>The water landscape varies depending on the location of the reservoirs. While some infrastructures such as Monte Grande, Sabana Yegua, and Sabaneta are operating at levels below average, others show robust capacity. A notable case is the Monci\u00f3n dam, which reaches a level close to 83%, functioning as a fundamental pillar to guarantee irrigation in the Northwest Line.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">The Government maintains permanent surveillance over the country&#8217;s reservoirs and President Luis Abinader receives constant updates on dam levels, while the responsible institutions coordinate actions to guarantee drinking water and the necessary supply for agricultural production.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Management and efficiency measures<\/h3>\n\n<p>To address the projected rainfall shortage for the September to November quarter, authorities have implemented a series of preventive actions:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Rationalization of irrigation water dispatch in coordination with irrigation boards and the Ministry of Agriculture.<\/li><li>Prioritization of water supply for human consumption aqueducts.<\/li><li>Constant monitoring through the Committee for the Operation of Dams and Reservoirs (COPRE).<\/li><li>Execution of an intensive cleaning plan for canals and drainage systems.<\/li><li>Concrete lining of earthen canals to minimize water loss during transport.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<p>Caba Romano emphasized that, although current reserves allow for responding to existing demand, the institution remains on alert for any changes in climate behavior.
