The minor, who was accompanied by her 16-year-old teenage mother and her grandmother, returned to the country thanks to the efforts made by the General Directorate of Migration (DGM), thus guaranteeing her reunion with her relatives on Dominican soil.<\/p>\n\n<p>The baby girl was born on August 24th at the Dr. Marcelino V\u00e9lez Santana Teaching Hospital. The issue arose due to administrative complications related to the paternity registration, as the name of the alleged father, a Dominican citizen, was not included in the original live birth certificate.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Chronology of a complex case<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After the birth, the young mother and the baby were initially transferred to the facilities of the National Council for Children and Adolescents (Conani) in Haina.<\/li>\n<li>On September 2, the teenager, her daughter, and her grandmother were transferred to Haiti.<\/li>\n<li>During their stay in Haiti, the family reported having lived in precarious conditions, even having to sleep on the street before receiving temporary support from a local citizen.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p>Faced with desperation, the relatives filed an amparo action against various state institutions, including the General Directorate of Migration, the National Health Service, the Marcelino V\u00e9lez Hospital, Conani, the Central Electoral Board, and the Dominican State. The main objective of this legal recourse was to ensure the safe return of the minor and to ensure the legal recognition of her paternity.<\/p>\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The family maintains that the mother&#8217;s immigration status should not become an impediment for the father to exercise his right to recognize his daughter in accordance with Dominican legislation.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Although the minor is already under the care of her loved ones in the Dominican Republic, the administrative process to obtain the complete legal documentation, including the birth certificate and the official recognition by the father, remains pending.
