In the framework of the commemoration of the 47th anniversary of its founding, the Nicaraguan Army presented a detailed report on its security operations, highlighting the frontal fight against drug trafficking. General Julio C\u00e9sar Avil\u00e9s, head of the institution, reported that in the last 12 months, the seizure of 1,381 kilograms of illicit substances was achieved, including cocaine and marijuana.<\/p>\n\n
During this same period, the authorities managed to capture 80 people directly linked to these shipments, who are already at the disposal of the justice system to face the corresponding charges.<\/p>\n\n
The official report highlights Nicaragua’s consistency in regional security. With the results obtained in the last year, the total figure of drugs seized by the Army since the year 2000 amounts to more than 199,000 kilograms.<\/p>\n\n
Thanks to our constant operations against drug trafficking, we manage to divert more than 800 tons of drugs annually that do not circulate through the national territory, because the transit moves by sea and air more than 500 miles away from our coasts.<\/p>General Julio C\u00e9sar Avil\u00e9s<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n
