However, a change in the atmospheric pattern is expected by late afternoon.

During the morning, the sky will remain mostly clear with scattered clouds, although isolated showers cannot be ruled out in specific areas such as Samaná and Barahona. As the day progresses, daytime heating and humidity will interact to generate significant cloud increases.

Areas under rainfall impact

Starting at noon, moderate downpours are expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts. These conditions will mainly affect the provinces of San Pedro de Macorís, Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, Samaná, Duarte, San José de Ocoa, La Vega, Santiago, San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, Elías Piña, Dajabón, and Monte Cristi. It is estimated that these precipitations could extend into the night.

Tropical wave and active alerts

For Thursday, Indomet anticipates the approach of a tropical wave that will increase atmospheric instability. This phenomenon is expected to cause scattered showers with thunderstorms in Greater Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, southern La Vega, Santiago, northern San Juan, Santiago Rodríguez, and Elías Piña.

Given the risk of overflowing rivers, streams, and creeks, as well as potential flooding in vulnerable areas, the agency maintains meteorological alert levels for the following provinces:

Valverde

Dajabón

Santiago Rodríguez

Details about tropical system Edouard

Internationally, Indomet reported that the Edouard system has degraded into a tropical depression. It is currently located about 115 kilometers northwest of Beaumont, Texas, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h. Due to its trajectory and current location, this phenomenon does not pose any danger to the Dominican Republic.

Temperatures in the National District will remain high, with maximums ranging between 34 °C and 36 °C, while minimums will be between 24 °C and 26 °C. The population is advised to stay hydrated and pay attention to official notices.

Weather forecast: Indomet warns of downpours and thunderstorms in the country The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued its updated report on weather conditions for this Wednesday, highlighting the start of the day marked by a sunny environment and hot temperatures across much of the national territory.
