I did some research. Epicondylitis is ‘tennis elbow’. It’s been bothering him for a week or so. He thought he’d get over it and turn things around. But a couple of swings yesterday really aggravated it and he’s more sore. He knew he wasn’t going to be able to make good swings at the ball.<\/p>Matt Quatraro<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nIn a corresponding move, infielder Cam Devanney was promoted from Triple-A Omaha.\n\nDevanney will make his MLB debut in his first appearance with the team, although he wasn’t in the starting lineup on Tuesday.\n\nTo make room on the 40-man roster, left-handed pitcher Cole Ragans was transferred to the 60-day injured list.\n\nRagans has been on the injured list since June 11 due to a strain in his left rotator cuff.\n\nQuatraro explained that Ragans’ movement was strictly “procedural”.\n\n

It gives us a spot on the list to call up. He won’t be back by that date (when he’s eligible to return from the 60-day list), so there was no risk to us in doing it. And it gives us the spot on the 40-man roster.<\/p>Matt Quatraro<\/cite>\n\nRagans has had injuries throughout the season, after a 2024 season in which he reached his first All-Star Game and finished fourth in the American League Cy Young voting.\n\nRagans stated that this move will not affect his return to the Royals’ rotation.\n\n

That’s in a month. I started throwing yesterday, so I don’t really have a full schedule, but it will be much further along in the throwing progression. We needed a spot on the list, and that made sense. Literally, it doesn’t change anything about how I’ll come back, or when I’ll come back.<\/p>Cole Ragans<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nFor Devanney, it’s a dream come true. Her parents, her sister, and a couple of friends who were able to get off work will be present.\n\n

I think they’ll arrive about an hour before the game time, so it’ll be a bit tight. But I think they’ll make it.<\/p>Cam Devanney<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nIn 69 games with Omaha, he bats .272 with 18 home runs and 55 RBIs.\n\n

It’s surreal, man, I’m still processing it. I think you survive in this game (by being) adaptable and versatile. I understand the dynamics here and what they’re looking for, so I’m just trying to meet their needs.<\/p>Cam Devanney<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nQuatraro praised Devanney’s versatility.\n\n

Cam has had a great year in Triple-A. He had a good year last year. He has played very well in the infield. He has also played some in the outfield. So his versatility and another right-handed hitter was something we were looking for.
