This measure, framed within the Digital Services Act (DSA), imposes much more rigorous standards on these services regarding transparency, security, and user protection within the community territory.<\/p>\n\n<p>The decision responds to the enormous user base of these platforms, which exceed the threshold of 45 million monthly users in the European Union. Under this new classification, ChatGPT has been identified as a large-scale search engine, while Reddit and Roblox have been categorized as online platforms of significant dimensions, which triggers a higher level of supervision by European authorities.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adaptation period and new obligations<\/h2>\n\n<p>Following the official notification, the three companies have a period of four months, with a deadline at the end of November, to align their operations with the requirements of European regulations. The main obligations include:<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Comprehensive assessment and mitigation of systemic risks derived from their algorithms.<\/li>\n<li>Rigorous control over the dissemination of illegal content.<\/li>\n<li>Implementation of strict measures for the protection of minors.<\/li>\n<li>Safeguarding the physical and mental well-being of users, as well as their fundamental rights.<\/li>\n<li>Protection of the integrity of electoral processes and public security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>These requirements seek to increase the accountability of large digital platforms and reduce the potential negative effects derived from their services on millions of users.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shared supervision and scope of the measure<\/h2>\n\n<p>The European Commission will not act alone in this monitoring process. The supervision of ChatGPT and Reddit will be carried out in direct collaboration with the Irish authority, given that both companies have their headquarters in Ireland. For its part, the monitoring of Roblox will be supported by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets.<\/p>\n\n<p>This joint effort is part of a control ecosystem designed to ensure that technology companies operate with greater transparency. With these three new additions, there are now 28 digital services under this special category of supervision in Europe.
