This natural disaster has left a tragic toll of 331 dead, 4,439 injured, and 240 people who still remain missing.<\/p>\n\n<p>Randeep Sarai, Canadian Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development, reported that these resources will be channeled to cover the most urgent needs of the affected communities, such as access to drinking water, sanitation services, temporary shelters, and basic food supplies.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Strategic distribution of funds<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>World Food Programme (WFP):<\/strong> Will receive 1.4 million Canadian dollars to strengthen food assistance and logistics in the affected areas.<\/li><li><strong>Canadian Lutheran World Relief:<\/strong> Will manage 350,000 Canadian dollars destined for the creation of emergency shelters and hygiene projects.<\/li><li><strong>Colombian Red Cross:<\/strong> Will receive 250,000 dollars for direct assistance efforts.<\/li><li><strong>Additional support:<\/strong> An additional 50,000 dollars have been allocated for the construction of emergency housing and the distribution of essential hygiene and food kits.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>In this difficult time, Canada stands with the people of Colombia. We are using trusted partners to get vital aid to those affected by this tragedy.<\/p><cite>Randeep Sarai and Anita Anand, officials of the Government of Canada.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Impact of the disaster on Colombian territory<\/h2>\n\n<p>The most recent official report details that the earthquake has had a devastating impact on Colombian infrastructure and society, affecting more than 324,000 people distributed across 494 municipalities in sixteen departments. In addition, the total or partial destruction of more than 31,500 homes is reported, which aggravates the vulnerable situation of thousands of families.<\/p>\n\n<p>This new contribution integrates with previous efforts made by Ottawa during the current year, adding to the 8.5 million Canadian dollars already allocated for various humanitarian needs in the South American country.
