During the opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 school year, held in San Francisco de Macor\u00eds, the official detailed that this initiative seeks to modernize teaching to align it with current technological and labor demands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, which has the backing of President Luis Abinader, contemplates a legal reform that will be submitted to the National Congress before the end of October. The main objective is to turn these updates into a State policy that guarantees long-term educational continuity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Two paths for high school and technical focus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The educational proposal seeks to strengthen basic competencies from the initial and primary stages. For the secondary level, the system will be reorganized under two distinct modalities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scientific-technical education:<\/strong> Focused on equipped high schools and polytechnics that grant certified degrees in collaboration with INFOTEP.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Scientific-humanistic high school:<\/strong> Aimed at students with aptitudes and the desire to pursue university studies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The minister stressed the importance of identifying students who require technical training to facilitate their early entry into the labor market, ensuring that no student is promoted without having achieved the necessary competencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>We are talking about building a new educational system that teaches young people to learn, to unlearn, and to adapt to the changes of their time.<\/p>\n<cite>Rafael Evaristo Santos Bad\u00eda, Minister of MESCyT.<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Higher education review and commitment to the 4%<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The transformation will also reach universities, where curricula and the duration of degree programs will be reviewed to ensure their relevance in the face of the fourth industrial revolution. The minister clarified that this process does not imply a reduction in the budget allocated to pre-university education nor a privatization of the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Santos Bad\u00eda emphasized that the autonomy of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and the structure of INFOTEP will remain intact, dismissing rumors about possible cuts to the 4% of GDP allocated to the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Granting of 10,000 national scholarships<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this initiative, the delivery of 10,000 scholarships to pursue strategic degrees such as data science, physics, mathematics, agronomy, and arts was announced.
