Cabello, who also serves as Minister of the Interior, insisted that any release is the product of an internal government review process, dismissing the validity of the demands from opposition sectors and human rights organizations.<\/p>\n\n
Context of the releases and the dialogue process<\/h2>\n\n
Since the beginning of the year, the Government has carried out a process of releasing detainees which, according to the authorities, responds to specific judicial reviews. In mid-August, new releases were recorded following the conclusion of the first cycle of talks between Jorge Rodr\u00edguez, president of Parliament, and former opposition deputy Dinorah Figuera.<\/p>\n\n\n

- The Unitary Democratic Platform (PUD) counts a total of 105 people released during this period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n
Within the framework of this first dialogue cycle, the parties reached significant agreements, among which the renewal of the magistrates of the Supreme Tribunal of Justice (TSJ) and the management for the recovery of international reserve assets deposited in the Bank of England stand out. These resources, as agreed, would be destined for the care of the victims of the earthquake that occurred on June 24th.<\/p>\n\n
