Her statements come in the wake of homicide statistics recorded during the month of August.<\/p>\n\n<p>According to the official data presented by the head of the ministry, 77 homicides were recorded during the first 24 days of August. After a process of disaggregating the cases, the authorities have managed to identify the motives behind most of these violent incidents.<\/p>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>42 homicides were caused by social conflicts.<\/li><li>17 cases were linked to criminal acts.<\/li><li>The rest of the events remain under investigation to determine the precise causes.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The main problem in the Dominican Republic right now is social conflict. The lack of capacity to resolve conflicts and the disrespect for rights among citizens constitute one of the most critical challenges for our security.<\/p><cite>Faride Raful, Minister of Interior and Police<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Data-driven strategy and transparency<\/h3>\n\n<p>The Ministry of Interior and Police has implemented a new data systematization protocol to analyze the causes of each death. This tracking includes detailed monitoring of cases in which victims die after having been wounded, allowing for a clearer view of the behavior of violence in the national territory.<\/p>\n\n<p>Raful explained that this level of precision is possible thanks to data interoperability between the institutions that make up the Task Force.
