In a day full of contrasts, several renowned tennis players have experienced different results.\n\n\n
Tiafoe falls to Norrie<\/h2>\n\n\nAmerican Frances Tiafoe, seeded number 12, bid farewell to the tournament after being defeated by 2022 semi-finalist Cameron Norrie, with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 7-5. This is the fourth time in seven Grand Slam tournaments since 2024 that Tiafoe has been eliminated in the second round. Wimbledon is the only major tournament where he has not managed to reach at least the quarter-finals.\n\n
On the other hand, American Taylor Fritz, the fifth seed, managed to advance to the next round. Fritz, who has had long and disputed matches in this edition of Wimbledon, managed to defeat Gabriel Diallo before the match was suspended. Previously, Fritz had won another five-set match against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.<\/p>\n\nThat is an incredibly difficult match. I don’t think I did anything wrong at all in the fourth set that I lost.\n\nFritz suffered a cut on his elbow while trying to reach a ball, but continued playing. The American tennis player has played two matches, with a total of 109 games, in three days and hopes to have a day off.\n\nTomorrow is going to be a very light workout. I think I’ve played a lot of tennis. I deserve a nice and relaxing day.\n\nFritz becomes the seventh top-5 seed in the Open era to reach the third round with consecutive five-set victories, and the third to achieve this at Wimbledon.\n\nIn another match, Jenson Brooksby, also American, lost his second-round match against Brazilian Joao Fonseca, 18, with a score of 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Fonseca became the youngest man to reach the third round of Wimbledon since Bernard Tomic in 2011. In addition, he became the second Brazilian to advance so far in the last 20 years.\n\n

It’s something to be proud of, for sure. I’m very happy with the way I’ve progressed on this surface, I’m evolving. This is the fifth consecutive year that a Chilean reaches the third round at Wimbledon. Fonseca and Jarry will face each other in the next round.\n\nEthan Quinn was the fourth American to fall on Wednesday, losing to Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in straight sets.\n\nBrandon Nakashima, seeded number 29, completed his first-round victory over Yunchaokete Bu with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 6-4, after their match was suspended on Tuesday due to lack of light.\n\nThe tournament continues with five American tennis players at the top of the bracket on Thursday, including a match between Nakashima and Reilly Opelka.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The Wimbledon tournament continues its course, and surprises and emotions are not long in coming.
