Boston Legacy FC Signs Its First Player: Annie Karich<\/h2>\n\n\nThe Boston Legacy FC has finalized its first signing in the club’s history. It is midfielder Annie Karich, who arrives from SC Freiburg of Germany, via a free transfer.\n\n\n

\u201cAnnie is a midfielder who brings a unique combination of technical quality and tactical awareness,\u201d said Dom\u00e8nec Guasch, general manager of Boston Legacy FC.<\/p>\n\nDom\u00e8nec Guasch, general manager of Boston Legacy FC<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nGuasch added: \u201cIn his time at SC Freiburg, he has also demonstrated his competitiveness and maturity on the field. Annie has the potential to have a real impact on our team. We are eager to support his development in our environment.\u201d\n\nThe club reported that Karich will be loaned to a team in the Liga MX Femenil, yet to be announced, for the remainder of 2025, before joining Boston for the preseason in January.\n\nBoston will begin its participation in the NWSL next year as an expansion team, along with a new team in Denver, bringing the league to 16 teams.\n\nKarich played 36 matches with Freiburg since joining the Frauen-Bundesliga team in November 2023.\n\nWith 21 years old, Karich became a professional after two years at Santa Clara University.\n\nThe player, originally from California, has represented the United States in several youth categories.\n\n\n

\u201cI want to grow by developing my overall game as a player and learning to adapt to a new city, a new team and everything, and I am very excited to do it here in Boston,\u201d declared Karich.<\/p>\n\nAnnie Karich<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nGuasch also commented on Boston’s approach to talent scouting to build the squad: “Who has the potential to become the next great player? Then, recruit that player and have a head coach we trust to develop those players.”\n\n\n

\"Annie<\/figure>\n\n\nFilipa Pat\u00e3o was recently named as the first coach of Boston. She expressed that she hopes her players will be aggressive and play with passion.\n\n\n

\u201cIf you are a good player, you can do everything. Because we need to be flexible. I like to be chameleonic. I have many colors. You need to have that kind of ability to change a bit when necessary to win. It’s not a problem, because [having an] identity is the best tool to win. This is my identity\u201d, said Pat\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\nFilipa Pat\u00e3o<\/cite>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nBoston and Denver are the first NWSL expansion teams in history to build their rosters without player drafts.\n\nThe NWSL awarded them additional funds for salaries and the transfer market to help with squad building.\n\nThey and other NWSL teams can also loan players within the league, a new development.\n\nThe NWSL’s summer transfer window, including official free agency, opened on Tuesday.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
